The Reviews

This is the ultimate book for those seeking to bridge creativity and business. Rich with stories and examples from the art world and the lives of artists, author Maria Brito busts myths and provides actionable "alchemy lab" exercises to help readers solve problems and expand their capabilities through creative practices. I appreciated the art history lessons and the glimpse into Maria's fascinating world and career as a lawyer-turned-gallerist. I recommend this book for anyone seeking more joy, originality, and satisfaction in their careers or for business leaders who want to spark creativity within their organizations.

Maria Brito has created both a reference and inspirational book for artists and entrepreneurs like myself. She teaches the history and provides the stories to help me keep leveling up my art and business, while debunking the creativity myths and stimulating ideas. Best thing for me is the alchemy lab at the end of each section where I put what I just learned to work…Thank you Maria!

If you are looking for a book to jolt your creative juices into inspired action--look no further than Creativity Rules the World. Packed with entertaining stories that span history, facinating insights into the inner working of creativity in the mind all backed up with powerful research--Maria Brito has done an artful job of educating, entertaining and inspiring the reader. After finishing this book I feel like the creative spark in my own mind has been ignited and a door that had been closed has been flung open wide--I feel ready to apply the habits and tools I learned in this book to both my business and personal lives. Thank you!

It's an interesting book especially if you like art but don't know much about the back story of certain artists. Most of the reporting in this book is pulled from public sources/records so if you *do* know the stories of these artists/innovators (Steve Jobs/Waz)/entrepreneurs (Barbra Corcoran) you won't learn anything new about them. There is a lot about the author's personal journey and it is an intriguing one! She explains some of the pivots in her career and gives concrete reasons for her success (the online class/innovative video formats).....sometimes! The other times she tries to insinuate that having connections is a form of "creativity" twice she talks about how she calmed herself to see a vision of a connection that solved a problem for her and calls that creativity. I did like the instance where she explains the ways she builds her network contacting a random woman in Greece that just opened a gallery. That seems like a concrete way to "turn your ideas into gold" as the book promises.Overall clearly written and a nice collection of success stories from the art world and elsewhere but I wouldn't say it seems especially functional if you're looking for a book that will tell you how creativity can launch your business.

I was waiting for the new bestseller by MarĂa Brito.More than reading, I have been studying it. Yes, looking, because from the first page, it caught me, and I discovered that it is a gold mine.I read, highlight, annotate and stop at each Alchemy Lab at the end of each chapter to think, string together ideas, and immediately put them to work.Demolishing myths and explaining from its origins what creativity is and its relationship with business, MarĂa Brito brings us an intense, didactic, and fun book. Each chapter is a motivating challenge. It helps us awaken our creative capacities and maximize them with the contributions that MarĂa gives us from her experiences and from the people, entrepreneurs, and artists who teach us what can be achieved when we exercise and develop a creative mindset. This knowledge can lead us to success in any biz!

I've read a lot of art books before -- but this one had so many stories about artists I'd never heard of before. I particularly loved the exercises at the end of each chapter. It's a unique blend of art history and self-development.

It's a great read. I like how it shows how creativity drives innovation in any field.I love the "Alchemy Lab" part that comes after every chapter. It asks questions that help us to apply insight and knowledge in our daily lives. It was fascinating to read the examples of famous artists and how they used creativity in their work. I recommend reading this book if you are interested in the arts, business, and creativity.

have read many books on creativity, and this one is different, because it goes back in history and defines how and why creativity was framed and coined. This book has a lot of great exercises to boost your creativity and apply immediately. And finally, the book shows us how to use creativity in business and everyday life.

Haven’t finished it but so far the ideas are doable and make sense

I love how Ms. Brito connects historically creative thinkers and their mindset to how we can apply their habits and actions to our work. Great read!

I received my book and download all of the worksheets and fell in love with the introduction. After watching the intro video, I printed the worksheets. I am looking forward to completing the book and the program.

I am fairly new to Maria Brito. Her book on creativity has rocked my world. She dispelled myths and confirmed certain patterns of behavior that I've experienced. She also connected the dots between being and doing the art and running a profitable business. I have several friends who don't see themselves as creative but show stellar performances in business. I recommend this book to everyone, but especially to those who don't think they have a creative bone in their body.

Entertaining, thoughtful, valuable, and beautifully written, this book is both a call to arms for creatives and those who wish to harness their creative potential. Brito’s vast experience in the contemporary art world provided her with a unique perspective on entrepreneurial success and achieving it on your own terms! Brito also shares personal and art historical narratives which both educate the audience as they illuminate her personal and universal journey through art and life.

I have not finished the book yet, but one of the aspects I immediately loved was the the history and stories of past creatives that Maria Brito begins each chapter with. I also love the alchemy sections that end each chapter. It is a book I will spend time with and go back to a lot!Bernadette Youngquist

I've followed Maria Brito for some time, finding her story inspiring and relatable, so of course I was eager to buy this book when released and what a rewarding read it has been. Like Maria, I was steered toward a more traditional life path, doing well enough in school to then go to MIT to then attain a good, stable and reliable job. After the years of studying I found myself questioning why I was where I was and realizing that the learning and conditioning taught me what to think instead of how to think. I'm sure many find themselves in the same autopilot situation and that we could all live more fruitful and fulfilled lives if we learned to tap into our own individual creativity and think and feel for ourselves. Thankfully, Maria has provided an excellent resource to guide us through this process from years of figuring it out on her own terms. Each chapter is structured around a specific habit, tool, or practice aiding in the creative process with examples of how such a practice was or is utilized by historic or present-day figures in the art and business world. Sections end in an "Alchemy Lab" with key points and takeaways listed in a digestible way. While Maria's writing style is casual and relatable creating a quick and entertaining read, the extensive research into each example figure is apparent and impressive. I especially appreciated all of the stories on female artists and business women throughout history providing women of today a lineage of success that is not highlighted enough. As someone in her 20s just beginning to think for herself, I appreciate this book and would have loved to read this earlier in my life, perhaps right before college. Maria's work is not only a guide for bringing creativity into one's career, most importantly it is a great resource for how one can go through and live life created by and crafted for oneself.

As a gallerist, I have shown in fairs all over the world--and you meet a lot of people who call themselves art advisors and consultants. Most are forgettable. I still remember the day however when Maria walked into my booth in Miami ten years ago during Art Basel; I just remember looking up and seeing this luminous smile as she surveyed the work in my booth. I knew there was something immediately that set her apart from everyone else. You know the "it" factor in someone when you see it. And it had just walked into my small 300 sq ft booth in Miami.Maria's passion, drive, endless curiosity and boundless energy stayed with me long after our brief meeting ended. This was the mind of a true creative genius. Whatever she has, I remember telling myself, needs to be bottled--or at the very least memorialized in print so the rest of us can learn how she does it.And now after ten years of waiting, my wish has been granted. This book is what I've been waiting for and it didn't disappoint. I cannot think of any other writer who has so perfeclty provided us with blueprint for how to harness our own creativity, and realize the innate power that resides in all of us.This isn't just a book for business owners though--it is for anyone who feels stuck in their lives or careers. Maria lays out in detail how to "reprogramm" our brains to see things that others miss and gets us on track to realize the dreams we've kept on hold for years. And Maria gives us tools to use immediately--her anecdote about Shonda Rhimes and the "power of yes" is something I put in my mental toolbox instantly with great result.I could go on, but just buy this book. I waited for ten years for it.

I love these things. The fabric is really smooth and for the price... I don’t mind machine washing and drying and buying more.

I love how they fit and how they feel. They look real sexy on me.wish I could show you a picture. I do wish they was doubled lined front

good

The pair I received was very attractive and comfortable. Upon following the size chart, I chose the appropriate size, however, when I got the item, it was not the correct size. I was not satisfied, so I returned the item along with 6 other items. The size chart versus what I got did not match, so I had to spend extra time sending the item back and ordering something completely different. I was not happy about this.

First off, it says “polyamide / cotton / spandex”, but on the underwear it reads 85% nylon - 15% spandex. No cotton.Sizes are confusing. When I ordered these a year ago, an Asian 2X fitted like a US Large. The pair I received this time was an Asian 2XL, but it fitted like a US XL, despite what the ordering instructions said.Other than that, not bad. Feels sort of silky and cool.

This is an excellent book which prods you to enhance your creativity. The best part of the book to me was the many examples of artists .who were at first unsuccessful but changed their style and approach, leading to great successes. Piet Mondrian was a good example. The book also features famous businessmen who made what the author characterizes as a “pivot”. Both Elon Musk and the inventors of Play-Doh are compelling examples of how these changes resulted from enhanced creativity. The author gives many end of chapter suggestions for enhancing your creativity. Some of the keys are using your intuition, watching for changes in the marketplace or in customer behavior, being open to change, learning from others, and having a diversity of interests. I found this to be a compelling book for helping you be more creative by forcing you to take a broader view, rather than sticking in the same old rut.
