I have been a Photoshop fan for over twenty years. First, with a full-function Photoshop suite. Later with Elements. Elements is all that I need. This book is a great companion to the software.However, the Index is weak. For example, if you want to find the section titled "Fixing distortion with the Perspective Crop Tool" (very helpful for shooting tall buildings), you will not find it in the Index under Distortion.Speaking of the Perspective Crop Tool, you will not find where it is in this book. Select Crop from the Tools, then the Perspective Crop Tool appears in the bar at the bottom of the screen.
Book has what you need to operate the software and it's nice that the contents page and index are complete enough that one can go right to something and find information on it.
This book is easy to use and provides just what you need without filler. It is helpful, in my opinion, if one has a bit of experience editing photographs. That is the direction that I come from so I cannot address being new to photo editing. However, the book is plainly written with good visuals. Jump in!

Well written easily understood
Too much focus on what can be done without actually showing how to do it. Example: I use arrows to point out specific features in photos. I went to the index for instructions--no help. Scanning thru the book--no help. Did a google search--in a short time got several hits with clear instructions including photos. Also, authors engaged in too much "non-instructional" chat which added pages to the book without helping the reader understand how to use Elements.
