The Reviews

This is by far the most relatable financial education book I have read, and I’ve read many by the likes of Robert Kiyosaki and Suze Orman. The author, Paris Woods, breaks it down and gives straightforward advice that will prevent you from making financial mis-decisions that will put you 000’s of dollars in debt, encourage you to build wealth and inspire you to retire early by joining the FIRE movement. It’s a must read, re-read and book you should reference whenever you need a reminder of your financial freedom goals. Basically, if Yoda wrote a book on how to live the life of your dreams, this would be it.

What a great read everyone! The suggestions are simple yet very impactful ways toward having the financial freedom I desire.

I don’t typically leave reviews, but it’s rare that I read a book that has an immediate impact on my life. This should be required reading for every high school senior. Woods masterfully infuses advice with her personal experience and how-to worksheets. She provides you the why and the how. For the first time in my life I’m going to dream about what my ideal day could look like and I’m excited about planning for my future.

I like the friendly sisterly vibe of the author even as she breaks down the difficult language of investing. I wish someone had gifted me this book in my 20's. Yet at 50 I was able to still get a better understanding and apply some of the knowledge from this book. I would recommend this book to every young and old lady.

Ms. Woods has a very authentic way of connecting with her audience as she takes them on a journey into some difficult aspects of their lives. I truly enjoyed learning from her experiences, and the way she seeks to empower women to get real about the changes they need to make in their lives of they want to create wealth. Being debt free is just one aspect of generating wealth. Ms. Woods encourages her readers to do some soul searching and evaluating to create a vision and plan for the life they want to lead. This was not easy for me, but I'm excited to do the work thanks to Ms. Woods guidance and real life examples.

I just started my financial freedom journey and this book is the perfect read to help me reach my goals. I've learned a few new things that I will definitely be putting in motion as I become debt free. Paris Woods you rock black girl. Thank you so much for the inspiration. Everyone has a book inside of them. When I say I was reading every chance I got I did just that. Even spent late nights reading. I highly recommend this one.

My niece really enjoys this book and has taken steps already and is being consistent and dedicated in further application until she reaches her financial goals. Not lengthy, gets right to the point. Great read.

I’ve read many a financial book ranging from general investing, forex, and real estate investing but this is the best book yet! Buy it and change your life! Best money spent!

I’m 25 years old and this book is very helpful when it comes to having a guide on how to be financially free. This book is a must need for all black girls getting out of high school or 18! If I had this back then I would’ve felt more prepared when it came to my finances now. However, I can say that this book prompts you to think about things from a different perspective and the details on how how to get started on a financially free life is just Amazing! Just go get the book!

If only I had this knowledge in my earlier years. But my current case is “better late than never”. This book came to me during a time of my life where I was finally getting a hold of my financial situation. I had accomplished a long standing goal of paying off my credit cards and wanted to further learn about financial freedom. I am grateful to have stumbled across this book for through it I have gained the knowledge to take my goals to the next level thank you Paris!!!!

I don’t even want to put it down! These books just got delivered today and I’ve already read them both! These have educated me and changed my mindset on so many things!

Perfect and relatable book for someone who is just beginning to understand their own finances. Easy to read and follow along as well.

Everything mentioned is very beneficial to helping Black women save money. I adored Paris' writing and knowledge.

This is a very thoughtfully and carefully written book that contains everything people should know about personal finance. Highly recommended to both Black women or anyone interested in learning more about managing personal finances.

Haven’t finished the book but it’s good so far. It really is something that should have been given to my younger self (I’m in my mid 20’s now). The world has failed us in teaching young minorities, especially women the steps needed to reach financial freedom. The amount of debt I have now, is ridiculous- many it appears, could have been avoided.

I really relate to this book. Being that I was a black woman who went through college and finances with no type of guidance and made some of the same mistakes as Paris. I’ve also made “new mistakes” that made me the woman I am today and the woman I will be better at in the future. I am so happy to pass the wisdom that I earned down to my daughter. Whatever I am unable to explain, I hope this book can. My daughter will be entering college soon and she wants to be a vet. I really enjoyed reading about the medical school scholarships, how to get a full ride with 100% of tuition coverage, and much more. Not living rich and dying broke.

Sharing her experiences, Paris woods give me new ways to manage existing debt and stay out of debt. As a student her chapters about education and credit really helped me in my decision making for this upcoming semester. Finding the programs and resources she talked about to stay out of debt.

This keeps my smaller brushes from getting lost amongst the larger ones.

I'm not into those 'I can do it so can you self help books' and honestly there is a good amount of that in here but the amount of golden nuggets in this book makes up for every "this reminds me of when i..." reflection. a lot of us didn't go to a ivy league or can save 70% of our income but this book has a small medium large quantity that I love. Great summaries and to do list at the end of each chapter and is very informative. Lots of referrals to other books the writer found helpful which are great for next reads. I flew through the pages. I'm excited to find my fire number that this book introduced me to and start working on financial freedom.
