The Reviews
Ive been a dedicated flybaby for almost 9 years. When i heard Marla was coming out with a new book i was over the moon! What could she possibly say to help now! I was so excited. I had preordered the book and waited anxiously for december to come, i recieved the book tuesday and i just finished it this morning on thursday. While of course it was different feom her first book the similarity honestly surprised me, there was very little new information but i did enjoy the added recipes. The first half of the book the chapters seemed more well rounded, a start a middle and an end, towards the end of the book however most of the chaptered seemed more thrown together and rushed. Her first book was much better.
The Flylady way works! A few years ago I was on the Flylady bandwagon and somehow got sidetracked. Fast forward to NOW-bought the book and watched a few YouTube videos and my life is BACK ON TRACK! I am slowly getting things where they need to be and OUT if they’re NOT where they need to be! Thank you Flylady for helping me take control of my life once again. I am gratefully yours!!!
The Chaos Cure is a very helpful and encouraging book to enable me to keep my home clean and give me peace of mind. I have always wanted a home that was inviting and also a pleasure for me to live in, and it seemed an impossible dream. Through Marla Cilley's genius and love for us "flybabies" I am beginning to see genuine hope for me in having a home I am happy to live in and have friends over. She even includes some favorite recipes in The Chaos Cure, which is a terrific bonus. Thank you!!!! ----the book is like a fresh breeze in my life! I can give a sigh of relief!
The Flylady not only teaches you how to love your home, but how to love yourself. House cleaning is no longer seen as a chore but as a blessing to one self, family, and others. I could not do everything that I do without the loving, gentle, yet direct guidance from Marla Cilley, The Flylady! I am forever grateful to her and for her resources! This book is a great place to start and full of her love and empowering push to get things done just a few minutes at a time!
Several years ago I did a crisis clean before inviting friends over to help trim the Christmas tree and do some holiday baking. I had used FlyLady's tip to load up laundry baskets with my paper clutter and set them in the tub to get them out of sight. Because my husband and I live in a home with 3 tubs and a shower, the guest bathtub harbored my out-of-control paper clutter for over a year - until a call for a plumber forced me to unload my stash! I thought I'd made a lot of progress since then, but I decided to discipline myself to SLOWLY digest and FLY through The CHAOS Cure, actually DOing each step before proceeding. I thought my kitchen was in pretty good shape, but several new appliances acquired for Christmas called for an overhaul that spread to cabinets and pantries before moving on to the studio/office where files from 2006 to the present found themselves filed and stored in 4 bankers' boxes in the closet, clearing two full file drawers and considerable floor space! The laundry room benefited from clearing my stash of two shelves of glass jars from my pre-recycling days. How had I overlooked them? (and who would have thought I would ever have been able to painlessly add recycling to my routines?!) Both bathrooms got a good cleaning-decluttering as well. This flurry of activity fueled itself into the best Christmas present for my husband and myself - in the middle of sailing through the holidays! Years of FLY-washing took flight as I worked (pampered) my way through The CHAOS Cure! What a pleasant serendipity!! We also put up outdoor lights for the first time in 20 years of marriage and greeted the family in elf outfits as we ushered them into Santa's warehouse where they each made a list of gift selections from Santa's stash (set up in the garage which had been decluttered this fall). What FUN - a memorable celebration of creativity unleashed by FLYing through The Chaos Cure..
Yes, this is a fun, easy to read guide to the basics of housecleaning, but it also contains lots of tips for everyone (regardless of your housecleaning expertise). The book has short, focused chapters/sections, so it's easy to read in bursts OR you can read the whole thing in one sitting, like I did. Marla Cilley has written a book for a whole new generation of young adults who haven't been taught the basics of keep a house. I love Marla's attitude - she doesn't "fuss" at those of us who aren't keeping up with our daily chores, but she encourages us and inspires us to keep working at it.
I am completely amazed that everyone has read this book so fast. I love everything she writes but I really want to take my time and really absorb her latest advice. I have been “a fly baby” for about 15 years. I am back at it and trying to help my daughter to “fly” in her first home with her new husband! I am so excited to delve into this new book. It’s my “pamper myself” time for December!
I felt like this book had a lot of the same things that the Flylady has on her website and in her previous book. Not bad, it just doesn’t add anything, in my opinion.
